Peter Kay<\/a> delighted fans this week with a brand new tour announcement after being forced to reschedule nights of his ongoing UK tour<\/a> due to a routine surgery.<\/p>\n

The Bolton comedian, 52, announced his long-awaited comeback tour in 2022 after 12 years and has been touring across the UK consistently since.<\/p>\n

Despite his Better Late Than Never tour set to end next year, it won’t be the last fans see of Kay, with a new set of dates set for 2026<\/a>, with profits going to 12 different cancer charities.<\/p>\n

It comes after Kay revealed that two shows in Nottingham<\/a> would be moved from October to December due to a kidney surgery.<\/p>\n

Despite the excitement over the tour announcement, Kay’s announcement on The One Show that this will be the ‘last lot of shows’ has led some fans to believe this could be his final tour or that he could retreat from the spotlight once more.<\/p>\n

Why did Peter Kay step out of the spotlight?<\/h2>\n

The comedian’s five-year break from the spotlight began in 2017, when his Have Gags, Will Travel tour was cancelled.<\/p>\n

In a statement at the time, he said: ‘Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects. <\/p>\n

‘This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance For Life shows, and any outstanding live work commitments.<\/p>\n

‘My sincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly, and I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll understand my family must always come first. <\/p>\n

‘I\u2019ve always endeavoured to protect my family\u2019s privacy from the media. I hope that the media and the public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again, I\u2019m very sorry.’<\/p>\n

Before this tour, he had last hit the stage in 2010 with his world record-breaking The Tour That Doesn’t Tour Tour\u2026Now On Tour, which played to more than 1.2million people.<\/p>\n

In 2018, Kay returned to social media to announce a charity screening of Peter Kay’s Car Share to raise money for The Lily Foundation before once again disappearing.<\/p>\n

prices low amid the cost of living crisis, Kay kept prices starting from \u00a335, as they would have been when the tour was initially announced in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>‘It\u2019s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy, and if there\u2019s ever a time people need a laugh, it\u2019s now,\u2019 he said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>‘And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from \u00a335. The same price they were on my previous tour in 2010.’<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is this Peter Kay’s final tour?<\/h2>\n<p>Kay has not announced any plans to hang up his microphone just yet, but his latest tour is coming to an end.<\/p>\n<p>Now entering its fourth year, the Better Late Than Never tour will wrap up next year with some extra special charity shows.<\/p>\n<p>Appearing on The One Show alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/rebel-wilson\/\">Rebel Wilson<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/kiefer-sutherland\/\">Kiefer Sutherland<\/a> on the red sofa, They\u2019ve retired about 10 times!’<\/p>\n<p>On Capital Breakfast, he hinted at what could come next after the tour comes to an end.<\/p>\n<p>‘I have written a film of Phoenix Nights, and it’s written, and it’s done, but I’m waiting for the de-ageing process to come into fruition, because the storyline involves a lot of flashbacks to the past, and I don’t wanna be using really bad makeup to make people look young. <\/p>\n<p>‘I’m serious; when the tour is finished, I’ve been thinking about it. I’ve been looking at the capabilities of de-ageing technology.
