Song of the Week: Central Cee, Sexyy Red – “Guilt Tripping”<\/h3>\n

Central Cee\u2019s new Sexyy Red collab is a surprisingly (slightly?) romantic track that takes one of Cench\u2019s main lyrical hallmarks \u2013 an irrepressible clumsiness when it comes to talking about women \u2013 and builds an entire song around it. By the end of the song, \u201cYou ain\u2019t a bitch, but baby, you my bitch\u201d might sound like the most romantic thing you\u2019ve ever heard.<\/p>\n

Lorde – “Hammer”<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

An industrial tinged new cut from Virgin<\/em>, \u201cHammer\u201d is grand and warm-hearted, featuring references to Lorde\u2019s new life in New York.<\/p>\n

Ninajirachi – “iPod Touch”<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

Ninajirachi\u2019s new single is pure nostalgia, harking back to a time when everything seemed simple and exciting.<\/p>\n

HAIM – “All over me”<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

This one\u2019s a \u201cGasoline\u201d-style midtempo ballad from Haim\u2019s new album I Quit<\/em>; the Haim sisters are still the best in the game at this kind of smooth, rhythmic indie-pop.<\/p>\n

Cardi B – “Outside”<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a long time since Cardi B released an album, but singles like \u201cOutside\u201d remind you why we\u2019re all still breathlessly anticipating her new record.<\/p>\n

Kesha, Slayyyter, Rose Gray – “ATTENTION!”<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

While I have a lot of skepticism about this kind of cunty strut-pop, which seems to be the default mode for anyone with a laptop, an Instagram account, and a couple of tubes of Too Faced Lip Injection gloss in their handbag, when it\u2019s this frenetic and fun, it\u2019s hard to deny.<\/p>\n

PinkPantheress – “Close to you”<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

Hearing this 2021-era Pinkpantheress loosie makes it clear how far she\u2019s come as a producer in recent years, but it\u2019s still fun to hear her old-school DIY approach.<\/p>\n

Kito, Cakes da killa, Born Dirty – “ECHO”<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

Sublime LA house producer Kito links with the queer avant-garde underground\u2019s best rapper on this hot-and-heavy heater.<\/p>\n

Ghais Guevara, Cameron Winter – “Nina Narcissist”<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

A rap song that samples one of the most intense songs on Cameron Winter\u2019s Heavy Metal<\/em>\u2026 Now I\u2019ve heard everything!<\/p>\n

Erykah Badu, The Alchemist – “Next To You”<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

Sublime work from Erykah and the Alchemist \u2013 hopefully there\u2019s an album on the way.<\/p>\n
